Cyclife UK were delighted to have recently hosted a visit from pupils of Dean Primary School, when the children visited the Metal Recycling Facility, based at Lillyhall, and took place in a number of activities.
The aim of this trip was to educate the children on safety, recycling, and how the work performed at Cyclife is supporting the UK transition to a low/zero carbon society. Engaging with the young students early enough, will hopefully encourage them to assist with this transition too in the future!
It was a great opportunity to inform the on the importance of recycling, whether that be at home, or within the nuclear industry.
The children were also given a presentation on how important it is that the workers on the shop floor keep their hands safe, and the ways in which hand injuries may occur at Cyclife.
The children were then given the task of creating “Hand Safety” posters to remind the staff at Cyclife how important it is to keep their hands safe at all times.
Kevin Dodd, Cyclife’s Safety Director, said “The children showed great enthusiasm and we were impressed by their amazing knowledge on recycling. It was great to see the pupils getting involved in conversations about their own experiences of hand injuries and the knock-on effects that they caused, such as pulling the zips up on their coats.”
