At 6 p.m. on Thursday the 7th of November 2019, a fire broke out at the Cyclife Sweden AB waste-metal processing facility located in Nyköping.
The fire brigade was called up at the beginning of the event, and had the fire under control on Friday the 8th of November at 6 p.m.
There were no casualties. Monitoring devices installed on site have not recorded any radioactive emissions outside the facility. Additional measurements are currently being taken.
The minor fire occurred whilst a metal component containing titanium was being processed.
Since the beginning of the event, the Cyclife personnel have been in close communication with the Swedish nuclear regulatory authority (Swedish Radiation Safety Authority) and local communities.
The facility was immediately shut down and on-site production activities were suspended.
